Here’s my friend Georgi for a second guest post. Thank you Georgi!!! She’s a sweet, brilliant soul who loves books, movies and travel. She’s also my local librarian.
Last night I watched a 2018 DVD “Embrace” that caught my eye with an arresting photo on the cover of the film maker’s nude body.
The subtitle is “One woman’s journey to inspire everybody”. Australian photographer Taryn Brumfitt had just had a child and like MANY women, was unhappy with her childbirth-changed body. She hired a personal trainer with the goal of participating in a body building beauty competition.
After reaching her goal, she realized that being really slim didn’t make her happy. Soon she was back to her normal (heavier) body where she still felt healthy and fit. In 2013, she posted before and after photos seen by more than 100 million people worldwide.
“Embrace” follows Taryn’s crusade on a world tour interviewing many women as she explores the global issue of body loathing, inspiring us to change the way we feel about ourselves- to “Embrace” our bodies just the way we are. I checked this documentary out of the library, but I bet it’s also available in a downloading format.
